The Pro Mountain Bike circuit has moved on from The Sea Otter Classic and reconvened in the foothills of the Granite Mountains, Arizona. The town of Prescott is home to the annual Whiskey Off-road race – a 50 mile exhibition of horsepower and singletrack. With new Curve kits in hand, Sam Morrison, Sarka Ruzickova and Sonya Bugbee traveled to Pueblo, Colorado for the Voodoo Fire Marathon race, round one of the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series. The first endurance race of the year can be a tricky undertaking for pacing options, especially on a course that is mostly flat with constant pedaling. The beckoning of April has brought about the start of the Colorado race season, and where better than the perennial Mountain Bike destination of Fruita, Colorado. Promoted by LTR Sports, the innaugural Rumble at 18 road managed to attract a stacked pro field, thanks in part to the prize money being offered, and also due to its date two weeks before the Sea Otter Classic and the Whiskey 50. After a successful first race of the season in Fontana, Deidre and Sam returned to the southern California desert where they got to rest and ride in 80 degree weather. The week was filled with sandy trails and sunny coffee shop rides. The last weekend of the break was the Sycamore Canyon US Cup. The course was very fast, with multiple punchy climbs each lap.
